About Your Therapist
Christy Schmidt, M.A., L.M.T. was born in Decatur, Illinois and lived there until the age of 3 when her father enlisted in the Air Force. Military life involved moving around every four years, so growing up she was introduced to a wide variety of cultures, ethnicities, ways of life, traditions, and belief systems. All through life, she always has had an inner drive to help others, from the skinned knees on the playground in grade school to seeking a Medical Assistant Degree from Robert Morris University in 1996. After working at a local hospital, a chiropractor’s office, a dental clinic, and managing a physiatrist’s office and not finding a way to truly help people or make an impact on their wellbeing, she opted for a change in career. So in 2005 she enrolled in the Massage Therapy program at Midwest Technical Institute in Lincoln, Illinois. Upon graduating in the winter of 2006, Christy was unable to find a place where health and wellbeing prevailed in massage work so she opened Chirugy Massage in Chatham, Illinois. Chirugy Massage grew and became known for the therapeutic working being done there, as well as Spa and Relaxation. After much soul searching and reflection, Christy made the decision to Close Chirugy Massage in July 2012 to return to her roots and focus her energy on doing healing massage, energy work, and family. In September 2012 White Flower Bodywork was born. White Flower Bodywork is a place where people can come and have a one on one healing session specifically designed for their individual needs on that day. Christy is enjoying the relaxed pace of her new facility and the quality time she spends with each of her clients. She currently resides in Springfield Illinois with her Husband Robert, two kids Ian and Keyra, and their furry children Lelu, Jezebel and Jinx.
